Never tell us it can’t be done
November 10, 2010 | 4:43 pmWe had Samuel’s second Diabetes clinic since diagnosis today. At his first one, his HbA1c result came back at 8.1. At the time, we thought it wasn’t bad but there was room for improvement.
Having a target to work towards is always a good thing. It helps me in training. And it has helped with controlling Samuel’s BM’s.
The nurse said last time that we should work towards getting it down to 7.5, and not to worry if it takes a while to do so.
I don’t recall the specific question I asked back then, but I wanted to know what sort of level we get it down to if we tried hard. Without being specific, I think the underlying message was that it’ll never go below seven.
Well, Sam’s HbA1c result today was 6.1! HA – take that, Diabetes. Think you can beat us! Think again!! It’s Samuels birthday today, his first as a diabetic. He was more excited about the video games we got him. I think his HbA1c result is the best birthday present he could get!!
