Samuel has done his own infusion site changeover
December 5, 2010 | 8:29 pmSamuel’s Roche Accu-chek Insulin Pump requires a change of infusion site every three days. And every other time we change it (ie every six days), we need to also change over the insulin vial and tube that is in the pump.
For the first time tonight, Samuel wanted to do the whole changeover himself. Under supervision of course.
So that was the change over of the soft canula site itself, drawing up the insulin into the vial, removing all the air bubbles, connecting a new tube, priming it and removing the air bubbles, restarting the pump and re-connecting it all back together.
Not bad for an 11 year old Type 1 diabetic, who’s had his pump about a month. Good work fella.
