There are two types of Diabetes
January 9, 2011 | 1:50 pmDid you know there are two types of Diabetes?
Type 1 and Type 2. And although they are similar, they are also very different. I had been meaning to write something about this. A girl at worked was just chatting and asked “How bad is Sam’s diabetes?”. Out of genuine concern, she was hoping his wasn’t too bad! But of course, it’s not as easy as that. To explain it fully, I would have had to go into the details of what diabetes is and particularly, the difference between type 1 and type 2. And it is quite complicated. Not something you can have a quick chat about in the office, especially if you don’t want to come over all heavy.
Then I came across this video blog from someone I follow on twitter, @GingerVieira. A nice, simple, light hearted definition of diabetes. So rather than write a long wordy article about the different types of diabetes, what they mean and how they are treated, with her permission, I have embedded the blog here. So if anyone ever needs a quick explanation, just look at this. Or even better, to her Youtube page or her webpage. I am in no way taking any credit for this, the blog speaks for itself. After all, if someone does it well, no need to re-invent the wheel.
