Interval training
February 1, 2011 | 8:20 pmI thought I’d have a go at doing some intervals tonight. That is, running steadily then running fast, running steadily then running fast! Not sure if that technically qualifies as interval training – some one might be able to enlighten me? But I’m pretty sure it will help me get quicker.
I was quite pleased with the result. I normally run at about 8 3/4 min mile pace and have struggled to get it below that for. So I started off a bit slower 9.5 min mile then ran about as quick as I could which turned out to be just under 8 1/4 min mile. I then tried to repeat it for the next two miles and finished the run with a short cool down. The results of this can be seen if you click of on the “View details” button in the window below.
The goal is to try and get three consecutive miles at approx 8 min mile pace, in time for my entry into the Clumber Park Sprint Duathlon on 5th March. We shall see. For my plodding runs, that would be something.
