Challenge 3 – London Triathlon DONE!
August 8, 2011 | 7:16 amExcuses, excuses, excuses…
Just got back from London and I’m enjoying a beer whilst looking at the data from my Garmin.
I did the event in 1hr32’26” – I was hoping to get under 1hr30′, maybe even 1hr25 but looking back on it, I’m still pretty pleased.
My target time had been based on doing a 750m swim, a 20K ride and a 5K run. It turned out the course I did wasn’t the same distance – it was longer! The swim was over 50m longer and the ride nearly 1K further. Also, because the event is so big, the transition areas were far bigger than anything else I have seen. The first transition was over half a mile long.
This variation meant that my finishing time was where I was hoping to be – I think!!!
That’s not to say there isn’t room for improvement – especially on the swim, which I felt I was really poor on.
Time to reflect..
