A little experiment

I got a new app for my iPhone last week and took the opportunity to test it out tonight, in advance the London 2 Paris bike ride this week.

The ‘TrackmyTour’ app will allow me to post my location on a map as I go from London to Paris, and you should be able to check in at any time and see where we are.

Or at least that’s the idea. This particular app doesn’t do live tracking, but does mark a point on the map everytime I stop and tell it – what it calls a ‘waypoint’.

A quick tour around Tickhill this evening and the app makes it look like this:

As you can see, it doesn’t really reflect the true route. Especially when you compare it to the actual route I get from my Garmin.

Having said that, I can post piccies and comments at each waypoint, so I reckon it might make for an interesting photo journal. We shall see. I will also try and make sure I post all the updates here on CureSam.com, so make sure you check back regularly for updates!!!
