Tickhill St Mary’s School fundraising
October 5, 2011 | 4:45 pmAs you are well aware, all my fundraising antics this summer have been in aid of Diabetes UK, with the aim of trying to find a cure for Samuel.
In fundraising news of a slightly different kind but going to the same cause, Samuel’s old headmistress gave me a call a couple of weeks ago.
The teachers and pupils at Tickhill St Mary’s do a collection every year at Harvest Festival time to raise money for charity. For the last few years, this has gone to a local hospice in Doncaster. However, this year they had a meeting and decided that they would like the money to go to Curesam – or more specifically the Diabetes charity that we support through Curesam.
I was blown away by this – what a wonderfully generous offer. Samuel is no longer at the school, having moved up to ‘big school’ this year, but his two younger sisters are still there.
I was even more blown away when the school secretary rang me on Friday to say they have collected all the monies in and the total is £424 – WOW!!!!
I have arranged for a representative of Diabetes UK to come into the school to collect the ‘Big cheque’ and will post some photo’s in the next couple of weeks.

Sounds like something the Rotherham Advertiser and/or Doncaster Freepress ought to be in on….they fall over themselves to get a “Big Cheque” piccy! Decent puclicity…just a thought. Bry x
It would also be decent PUBLICITY! A bit anal to correct the spelling…but just to show I’m not altogether thick, eh?
