Pump pending…

We had a visit this evening from Sam’s Diabetic Nurse. She has dropped off the prescription for all the bits and bob’s we will need once Samuel goes onto his pump.

She will return on Friday morning with the representative from Roche, and Samuel will get the pump. And we will all get about three hours training on how to use it.

I am excited but Nikki says she is apprehensive. We have got him reasonably settled into a routine and his BM’s are quite well maintained, so the pump will mean upsetting this, if only temporarily.

Most importantly, Samuel says he is excited. He cited an example of why to Nikki the other day. At school, if they do really well during Maths, they sometimes get a small chocolate as a reward. Sam’s Maths is very strong but he can never have the sweet, even though he has earned it on more than one occasion. He see’s the pump as a means to being able to claim this reward.

I suppose any motivation counts…
